RF Skin Tightening & Microneedling FAQ NYC

Radiofrequency treatments differ in how they deliver energy and whether they use needles. These answers explain the terminology and help you prepare for a consultation.

What is radiofrequency skin treatment?

Radiofrequency uses electrical energy to generate heat in tissue. Devices vary: some deliver energy from the skin surface, while RF microneedling devices use small needles.

Is RF microneedling non-invasive?

RF microneedling penetrates the skin and is a medical procedure. Ask a qualified provider about the proposed device and its risks, including burns, scarring and other reported complications.

Is all radiofrequency the same as a laser?

Radiofrequency and laser light are different energy sources. XERF uses monopolar RF, while Alma Pixel RF uses RF-driven microplasma for resurfacing. Treatment names should identify the actual technology.

How much recovery time should I allow?

Recovery depends on the device, treatment intensity, area and skin response. Ask your provider for a realistic recovery plan and written aftercare instructions before scheduling.

How do I decide which treatment is suitable?

Discuss your skin concerns, medical history, recent procedures and medications with the provider. Ask about alternatives, the expected benefit, treatment limitations and the qualifications of the person performing the procedure.
